The STEAM environment currently has 9 tech roles (plus one non-technical virtual host role) to get trained on. We cross-train everyone as much as we can, but we encourage expertise on fewer preferred roles - and we steer to the more needed roles. Training is everyone's responsibility!
We categorize tech roles in this manner to simplify training and responsibility assignments. The fact that we have 10 basic roles does NOT mean that we need 10 volunteers to successfully perform STEAM duties. Multiple roles are often assigned to each individual STEAM member. Some roles are performed only during setup and teardown (or even throughout the week), while others are continuously performed during the event. Each role has its own responsibilities, checklists, resources, and training materials.
- Learn our System on the STEAM Training Hub, and build relationships with STEAM Team & Worship Team.
- Tech Role setup and teardown (must be at training level Independent [L4] or higher [L4+]).
- Main Tech Role duties during the event (must be at training level Independent [L4] or higher [L4+]).
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and customizations (must be a Certified Tech [L5] or higher [L5+]).
- System improvements and enhancements (must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) [L6]).
